Leatherman Micra Multi-Tool, a Fan-Favorite Mini Tool with Scissors

March 22, 2012 Stuart 2 Comments

Leatherman Micra Mini Multi-Tool

Leatherman’s Micra keychain multi-tool has been around for quite some time, and remains a favorite choice. While we do favor the newer Leatherman Style CS, but won’t be giving up our Micra anytime soon.

The Micra features scissors, a small knife blade, 3 screwdrivers, nail file, ruler, bottle opener, and tweezers. It’s made from stainless steel to prevent corrosion, and weighs hardly anything.

Leatherman Micra Color Options

If the plain stainless steel finish is too boring for your liking, new color options should add just the right amount of flare to your keychain.

If you find yourself cutting more paper than anything else, you might want to step up to the Kum PenCut scissors.

This tool will always be a winner and a classic. I would not however, purchase it in anything but the stainless finish. The colors look great in the beginning, but don’t hold up. Unless you carry one in the small Micra sheath or something similar, they WILL get scratched. Almost anything you’d ordinarily carry in your pocket can do it. Even coins will scratch them over time.

Given the fact that the main appeal is that they’re a pocket/key ring tool, I avoid any color. Get the original stainless and don’t get worked up over typical scratches. You won’t lose any color going that route. You’ll be glad you did.

I used to carry one of these on my keychain. The most important part of any tool is to have it when you need it and this one disappears in your pocket. I replaced it with an EDC knife, but I am reconsidering the multitool.
